Exhausted all your options? 😫

Are you holding yourself back and not reaching your full potential?

Bongiorno

Are you at a point in your life where you feel you have nowhere left to turn?

You’ve exhausted all avenues?

Perhaps you have one or two paths left to pursue, but if those options don’t pan out WTF are you going to do?

Instead of leaving the job or industry that you despise, you persuade yourself to “stay put.” You tell yourself to “remain in a loveless relationship, to remain in a shovel abode. And the list goes on.

My Clients Story

I remember doing an astrological reading for a client who worked in the motor industry. His ninth (travel), sixth (work environment), and fourth house (homeland) were all being activated. I told him that he would probably get a position overseas, but I also knew it wouldn’t last.

This is why:

He was a self-saboteur. He was a lovely man but had issues with authority.

Six months later, he contacted me about a job opportunity in Italy. The pay was more than ever, yet he didn’t seem excited about his future.

I suppose I forgot to mention that he had a notoriously unsuccessful working record. Some people have multiple employers because of life circumstances, but he was dismissed from every position he held.

Personally, I was thrilled he got a new opportunity. I saw this position as a blessing. Although it was clear this man’s reputation had become tainted in the motor industry in the U.K. , but no one would be the wiser in Italy!

He was part of a niche field and had specialist skills, so there was a strong likelihood the company in Italy would be desperate for his expertise, but as I already said, I did not see him lasting long.

One Year Later

One year later, I received a message from him confessing, “I told them that I would be leaving .” My client told me about a conversation he had with his bosses in Italy. He had called me to find out if he would be going back to England.

It was unfortunate, but it was to be expected.

He would return, that’s for sure. But based on his evasiveness about not including his stance on whether he wanted to remain there, I gauged he didn’t really want to sever ties.

The Italian company didn’t extend his contract since his manager thought he gave them notice to leave.

So, my client came back to the UK. It was bittersweet because his wife and kids remained in England while he was in southern Europe. I was contacted shortly after his arrival, asking what was next.

Now that he was running out of options, I told him that he needed to do what he really wanted to do, which was to work for himself. He confessed that running his own business was something he did long ago. It had failed and bankrupted him and his family. As a result, he needed a steady employment.

But I reminded him that his job was not safe. So how was working for five different companies in the space of one year safe? I suspected he was neurodivergent. But I could not diagnose him, so I didn’t say anything.

When came back to the U.K and he really exhausted all his options. He could no longer get a fair and accurate reference. He took a paid unskilled and unrelated job until he bit the bullet and went solo because no one would hire him.

What to do when you have exhausted all your options?

“Keep calm and carry on”

As we say in England

The advantages of exploring every possibility

It isn’t wrong to take the only remaining course of action that is in front of you, even if your heart is not in it.

The rhythm of your life will eventually sway you in another direction eventually. You don’t have to try and be a trailblazer and make something happen sooner than necessary. Thus, sometimes you just have to exhaust all of your options in one area of life, with one particular person, or in a specific industry. And when all your options have well and truly been utilized and every door is locked, then it’s time to move on to something new.

You tried your best and hopefully you have learnt something from your experience.

Here in Europe, you often find forty-year-old sports players still wanting to continue to play their respective sports. Their alternative option to hold their positions and keep on playing is to go to China or the US.

Like my client did, going abroad can give you a lifeline, but remember, you still bring yourself wherever you go. If you are the type of person to get in the way of yourself or do not do constant self-internal reflection, then the same problems will occur.

So, instead of fretting and trying to force change, prepare for the inevitable-a new chapter! Cultivate a hobby. Learn a new skill and explore other areas you are interested in.
