What is the 10th House?: It is the house where you can see how the world perceives you!

What is the 10th house?

It’s the house where we elevate!

Located across from the fourth house of the childhood home is the 10th. So, one might think that the 10th house is the farthest away from where we grew up.

No, that is not true.

The 10th is the furthest place from when we were little.

But it was where we thought we wanted to be!

Aspirations

Can you remember your aspirations when you were little?

A time when you wanted more control over your life. Wanted the same, if not more, power than your parents?

Basically, you wanted to do grown-up stuff.

If yes, then the 10th house is where you were aiming to be. It’s the highest point in life and on the chart.

A place that lies beneath our societal structures, our careers, our goals, and ambitions.

The people in the 10th

This is the part of the chart where we can feel superior. But we can also find our superiors like our parents, especially the dominant/stricter/or absent parent. Whereas the 4th house is home to the nurturer out of the two.

Our parents are the first to have expectations of who we are and our limitations.

Our family sets the rules and draws the boundaries.

They wanted us to be a certain kind of person who does this and that, even if that is not what we wanted to do or be in this lifetime.

Nevertheless, our parents have their own opinions about the direction they want us to follow.

But, as we grow older, we build our own identity outside of our family home. We leave the confines of our family even if it is to get a job or get married and change our title (i.e., surname, etc.), and that is when we encounter other people in positions of authority.

Government officials, bosses, and supervisors are the authority figures we contact when adulting. Similarly, they can also be located in the 10th house.

Like our parents, the authority figures just mentioned above have the power to frustrate or elevate our lives beyond our wildest imagination.

For example, an elevation of one’s career should increase one’s income (2nd house) and potentially lead to a change in status.

Fame and/or reputation?

(you build your reputation which can lead to fame and rewards.)

A change in social position can lead to a prosperous life, but also a meteoric rise to the top of one’s profession or fall serves to create our reputation.

And if you want recognition, such as a desire to become famous, the 10th house was once one of the houses astrologers would look to to see if fame was highlighted.

However, I see the 10th house as the old-fashioned notion of fame (where one has to work hard) and not the fame we know today, which is an 11th house and Uranus’s ‘viral’ type of fame.

Old-school fame is seen here in the 10th because of ruler Saturn’s and ‘the old goat’ Capricorn’s influence on governing this house.

Nevertheless, here you can see your professional standing and status (are you a DR, Ph.D., BA, MFA, Mr, Mrs (husband/wife), Miss (single), or Ms (divorced)?). Or a mother or father.

But before elevation and fame, we must battle our fears and find out what may be preventing us from achieving what we really want, and we can do so here in the 10th along with the 8th and 12th houses.
