How Astrology Predicted My Birthplace | New Moon in Capricorn Reflection

The first new moon in Capricorn (in over a year) is on January 18, 2026.
This is unlike 2025, which had no new moons in Capricorn but had a full moon in Capricorn (and had two new moons in Sagittarius). Anyway, it reminds me how astrology has always fascinated me, especially how its symbolism subtly weaves through the story of my life.
Even the place and time of my birth hold astrological significance—something I didn’t fully appreciate until I began studying charts in depth.
In this post I talk about the place where my life began, and how astrology predicted my path before I took my first breath…
Born in the Thick of It
I must have wanted to arrive right in the middle of the action.
I was born just before midday, five minutes before the sun reached its peak in the sky.
Not only that, but I was born in the heart of London, near Westminster, the seat of British power.

But sometimes I wonder if being born at midday means I’ve reached my peak?
My birth is the highlight of my life.
Nothing can “top” it.
I came into the world at St Thomas’ Hospital, just across from the Houses of Parliament. From the maternity ward, you could see Big Ben towering above the Thames.

It’s almost poetic: to be born so close to a symbol of time (ruled by Saturn, connected to Capricorn and the 10th house) and power (politics, government, public life – all 10th house matters).
Growing Up Next to Power
I grew up in Kennington, only a couple of miles away from Parliament.
The area was home to many politicians, particularly Labour MPs, who often sent their children to local state schools rather than private ones. This meant my classmates included the children of those running the country, despite my own working-class background.
That’s London for you. You can live in social housing, yet your neighbours might be billionaires, actors, politicians, or eccentric artists. It’s a city where contradictions coexist, where people from every walk of life cross paths daily. This environment – diverse, political, powerful – reflects my chart placements perfectly.
The Importance of Birth Time and Place
Your astrology chart is a snapshot of the sky at your exact time and place of birth. Change either detail, and your chart shifts. For example, I was born at 11:55 am in August. Because of British Summer Time (daylight savings), my official birth certificate time is recorded an hour later, at 12:55 pm. But astrologically, it’s the real solar time that matters.
Because I was born just before midday, my Sun sits near the top of my chart, in the 10th house – the house of public life, career, status, and visibility. Naturally ruled by Capricorn and Saturn, the 10th house governs ambition, leadership, and how the world sees us.
House Systems and Chart Interpretation
Here’s where it gets interesting: depending on the house system used, placements shift slightly. In Placidus (the most common system in modern Western astrology), my sun in Leo lands near the top of my chart, in the 10th house.
However, if I use Whole Sign Houses, Capricorn (ruled by Saturn) moves from the 3rd house to ruling my 4th house (home, family, roots), and my Moon lands there instead.
Both interpretations feel true. My Moon (mother, family, emotional security) is in Capricorn (tradition, responsibility) – reflecting my upbringing in a practical, structured environment.
Yet my Sun in Leo (self-expression, creativity) in the 10th house shows my natural pull towards visibility, leadership, and creating work that reaches the public.
Nevertheless, I use the Placidus house system.
As Above, So Below
Although in astrology, the 1st house of your birth chart, determined by your rising sign (also known as the Ascendant), represents your core identity, physical appearance, and overall personality. It’s the foundation upon which your entire chart is built.
My AC in Libra symbolises balance, justice, and fairness, which are important in political and legal decision-making. Her scales were associated with Themis, the Greek goddess of justice and order.
The 4th house (where my Moon resides) can also represent the physical place of birth and early childhood environment.
Astrology reflects life’s paradoxes. Just as I was born in a hospital overlooking the Houses of Parliament—a place symbolic of time, authority, and legacy—my chart carries the same themes in its placements.

It’s not that astrology “predicts” life in a literal sense, but it mirrors it, offering insight into the story we’re here to live.
The Three Pillars of Your Chart
When reading your chart, remember the three pillars: your Sun, Moon, and Rising Sign.
- Your Sun shows your core self – mine is in Leo, a sign of creativity and leadership.
- Your Moon reveals your inner world and emotional needs – mine is in Capricorn, practical and responsible.
- Your Rising Sign (ascendant) shapes how you approach the world and how others see you – mine is Libra, the sign of diplomacy, beauty, and balance.
Knowing these three can illuminate so much about your life path.
Full Moon in Capricorn: Origins & Destiny
They say you carry the blueprint of your life in your first breath.
As you read, I was born opposite the Houses of Parliament. Capricorn rules structures, government, legacies.
My Moon in Capricorn sits in the 4th house (Whole Sign) – the house of home, roots, and beginnings.
Today, as am soon going to have a new moon illuminating my natal Moon, I reflect on how astrology showed me who I was before I even knew myself.
From library steps to hospital corridors to standing beneath those towering buildings that rule this city – the blueprint was always there.

What did the Moon see when you were born?
That’s why I create Empowerment Boost audios – to remind you of the truth already written in your stars.
In future posts, I’ll show you how to interpret these placements for yourself, understand the difference between house systems like Placidus and Whole Sign, and apply astrology to uncover your story.
After all, as the saying goes: as above, so below.
