New Moon 2025 Dates & Times by Location + Monthly Forecast
Every New Moon dates in 2025 by times and location is here! Not only that but the times you can read a mini genreal monthly forecast.
This is your one stop shop!
But there’s nothing more frustrating than following a New Moon ritual, setting your intentions, and… nothing happens. You’re left wondering what went wrong.
More often than not, the issue is timing.
Most people don’t realize that the exact time of the New Moon shifts depending on your location.
An astrologer might tell you the New Moon is on the 28th—but that’s their date, based on their time zone. For you, it might actually fall on the 27th or the 29th, depending on whether you’re in PST, ET, GMT, AEST, IST, or anywhere else in the world.
What is an Initiation?
An initiation is the moment you start something—sign a contract, send a pitch, launch a product, set a personal goal. You can choose to initiate during a New Moon using what’s known as Electional Astrology, which is about finding the most astrologically supportive moment for your action.
Does it work? You’ll never know unless you try. But choosing the right timing based on your location and rising sign gives you a serious edge.
Does it work?
Well, you will never know unless you try, right?
So, why not give it a go. But what I would say that if an astrologer tells you when the new moon is look to your location and leave about 12 hours between the new moon and what you want to manifest because there is no light before or even after but 12 hours should be enough time.
Why Timing Matters in Astrology
The first rule of setting intentions with the Moon is this: Timing is everything.
New Moons, Full Moons, Solar and Lunar Eclipses—all of them occur at specific times, and those times will translate to different dates depending on your time zone.
When Should You Set Your Intention?
The 1st rule when wanting to set your intention is timing is everything and depending on where in the world you live, the New Moon, like the full moon and sloar and lunar eclipses, will fall on different dates.
Always wait at least 12 hours after the New Moon is exact. Why? Because the Moon is completely dark at the exact New Moon—there’s no visible light to support growth just yet. That 12-hour window gives it time to “breathe” and begin waxing (gaining light), which is a better time for planting seeds, metaphorically and energetically.
If someone is taking action on your behalf (like mailing your wedding dress or publishing your website), you need to align with their location, not yours. This also applies if you’re traveling or living temporarily abroad—the location matters.
The 12-hour rule is a guideline, not a strict cutoff—based on the idea of giving the Moon a bit of time to begin waxing (gaining light) before you initiate anything new.
Here’s what really matters:
What does matter:
- The Moon is no longer combust the Sun (typically within ~8° of conjunction).
- The Moon is separating from the conjunction with the Sun (meaning it’s technically waxing).
- The Moon is not void-of-course (check this to be sure).
- The Moon is forming positive applying aspects, ideally to benefics (Venus, Jupiter).
So it can it be before 12 hours?
Yes—especially if:
- The Moon has moved more than ~8° away from the Sun.
- You feel aligned and ready.
- There’s no void-of-course Moon at that moment.
If you’re unsure, check the chart for that exact time. But you don’t need to be hyper-perfectionistic—rituals are energetic, symbolic, and deeply personal. You’re aiming for alignment, not mathematical perfection.
If you are getting someone to set your intiation for you (sending you your wedding dress, publishing your website), then you will have to set your intention like an election chart to their location, not yours. The same applies if you are abroad or somewhere that has a different longitute and latitude.
Avoid the Void-of-Course Moon
- If you want your intentions to “take root,” try to avoid setting them during a void-of-course Moon—a period when the Moon makes no major aspects before changing signs. These times are seen as less effective for new beginnings.
- You can check an astrological calendar for these times
Bonus Tip:
- 48-hour window (minus the first 12 hours) is a good time to set your manifestations , don’t stress. The Waxing Crescent phase (up to about 7 days after the New Moon) still supports action toward your intentions—just with a little less “seed-planting” potency.
- If initiated at the same time as the new or full moon you’ll feel drained.
Best Window: 12 hours after the New Moon
- This is when the energy is most potent and “fresh.”
- Moving towards “light.”
- Ideal for writing down your intentions, journaling, or doing a simple ritual.
Good Window: between 12 and up to 48 hours after the New Moon
- Still a powerful time to set goals and plant energetic seeds.
- The moon is “waxing” (growing even more in light), supporting manifestation and growth.
For me, I prefer to wait at least 48 hours because I always feel more exhausted during new and full moons. As a result, I am more likely to make mistakes.

Now that we have every New Moon date in 2025 & times by Location out of the way below are the ones to keep your eyes out for.
Most Notable in 2025!
The most noticeable thing in 2025 is that there is no New moon in Capricorn!
This absence is notable because, in 2024, there were two New Moons in December one in Scorpio and one right at the end of December in Capricorn: one at the very beginning of the year (New moon in Capricorn January 11th 2024) and another at the end (New Moon in Capricorn 30th of December 2024).
If you’re interested in the Capricorn New Moon, the next occurrence in tropical astrology will be in January 2026.
As a result there are Two New Moons in Virgo is 2025. In August and in September 2025.
Most Unfavourable (stressful) New Moon?
Taurus New Moon on April 27th/ 28th 2025. At the same time as this new moon Pluto in Aquarius is opposing Mars in Leo in what is called an opposition (a 180 degree aspect). You will feel dragged in the opposite direction of where you wanted to focus your energy.
This New Moon also forms another challenging aspect called a T-Square.
Most Favourable New Moon?
Some people are calling the Cancer New Moon in June the luckiest of 2025 — and hey, with Jupiter cozying up to the moon and a sextile to Mars in Virgo, it’s definitely bringing some big sparkly energy. But if you’re looking for a moon that’s pure magic for setting intentions, the Gemini New Moon on May 26th/27th is the one I’d bet on.
It’s crisp, clear, and absolutely made for planting the seeds of something fresh — especially if it involves communication (Blogs, books, social media, YouTube etc), ideas, or finally putting something into words you’ve been holding back.
This Gemini new moon is bringing all the cosmic green lights — seriously, the sky is stacked with good vibes. It’s making dreamy, supportive connections (a.k.a. aspects) to powerhouse planets like Pluto, Venus, Saturn, and Neptune.
Translation?
This is prime time for setting intentions that are rooted in both magic and real-world results.
A note for the astro-savvy: If you’re planning to use this energy for something like electional astrology (a fancy way of choosing the best timing for big moves), keep in mind that the next day brings more challenging vibes — Neptune fog and Saturn’s heavy vibes start to creep in. So if you’re casting a night chart after the new moon, you’ll want to be mindful, especially since Saturn’s the classic party pooper (a.k.a. malefic) in night charts.
Still, if what you’re manifesting has to do with writing, short trips (motor vehicle), tech, communication, or literally sending that one message you’ve been overthinking — this moon is your bestie. Set those intentions.
Say the thing. Hit send.
Nevertheless, you may want to take action at the Virgo First Quarter Moon (12° Virgo 50) on June 2nd or 3rd. Although, this Virgo First Quarter Moon is not part of the Gestation cycle remember that an intention is just an aim or plan, as a result, you don’t need to take action straight away.
This First Quarter Moon is the part of the Gestation cycle that started with a new moon in Virgo back in September 3rd 2024 at 11° Virgo 04.
Virgo is the other sign that Mercury rules over (Gemini and Virgo).
Activity happening is the sign Virgo is perfect for tackling tasks. Virgo is a productive sign and with transiting south node in Virgo it suggests it’s time to let go of something (finish it, say it even if it is incomplete) so you can move forward.
Most Noteworthy New Moon?
The Aries New Moon (Solar Eclipse) in March 2025 is no ordinary new moon. As a result, it is the most noteworthy new moon to track.
It is noteworthy because this month’s New Moon in Aries isn’t just your average reset — it’s a cosmic spark plug, igniting bold new beginnings with the raw energy of the zodiac’s very first sign.
Aries says go, so you might feel an urge to charge ahead, compete, or claim your space — but remember, impulsivity is part of the package, so pause before leaping.
This New Moon is also a solar eclipse, making it life-altering, fated, and part of a major story arc. It marks the final eclipse in the Aries-Libra axis, closing a chapter that started back in 2023 (and echoing themes from 2005–2006). Think: personal identity, independence, and the balance between me vs. we.
With Mars, Aries’ ruler, still retrograde in Cancer — a sign that’s way more emotional and indirect — your ambition may have a softer edge, or you may need to revisit old emotional patterns before making a clean break forward.
This eclipse also belongs to a powerful lunation cycle that began in October 2024. Like a cosmic pregnancy, it unfolds over 9-month intervals, bringing key developments through to September 2026 (full moon moment) and wrapping up by June 2027.
It’s a perfect time to:
→ Start a new health routine or personal project.
→ Reconnect with your body.
→ Be courageous but mindful of decisions.
→ Track your growth from now through the next two years.
Big themes are in motion. You’re planting seeds that future-you will harvest. So set your intentions boldly — and be willing to evolve with them.
Month-by-Month General Forecast for 2025
January – Aquarius (9°) New Moon
A breath of fresh, futuristic air. This new moon invites you to think ahead, dream bigger, and help out where you can. It’s social, innovative, and a great time to experiment—especially with tech or abstract ideas. Saturn’s steady presence in Pisces balances Uranus’s unpredictable turn direct, sparking forward motion. Mercury joins Pluto in Aquarius and trines Jupiter in Gemini, giving your ideas extra edge and long-term potential. Start sketching your future now—it’s got promise.
February – Pisces (9°) New Moon
Time to pause, float, and feel. February’s dreamy new moon asks: what are you ready to release before spring 2025 arrives? What dreams still whisper to you late at night? This is the time to set soft, soulful intentions—around healing, creativity, or simply resting. There’s a call to do something that gently supports your well-being, or someone else’s. Don’t force clarity. Let your intuition guide you. A square to Jupiter in Gemini may stir some doubt or distraction, but the message is clear: dream it now, grow it later.
March – Aries (9°) New Moon (Solar Eclipse)
This is no ordinary new moon—it’s a solar eclipse, and the final one on the Aries-Libra axis. It’s bold. Fast. Pivotal. Think back to 2005–2006. What ended? What began? This eclipse may revive or reroute that storyline. Aries energy says “go”—but Mars, its ruler, is retrograde in sensitive Cancer, which means this leap forward may come with emotional awareness or unfinished business. Excellent for starting health routines or confronting long-avoided truths. The seeds planted now will grow through 2027, so pace yourself.
April – Taurus (7°) New Moon
This is a “get real” kind of reset. The moon loves being in Taurus, helping you slow down and tune in to what really matters. Venus rules this moon, so think pleasure, value, self-worth. The sky is a bit dramatic with Pluto opposing Mars and forming a T-square, but this pressure can help crystallize what you stand for. Ground your goals. Invest in your future. Whether it’s a small treat or a big decision, align it with what your soul actually needs—not what the world says you should want.
May– Gemini (6°) New Moon
On the day of the new moon, the moon isn’t getting any of those pesky, hard aspects. It’s basically floating freely — no drama, just clarity and charm. So if you’ve been waiting for that aligned moment to journal your intentions, speak them out loud, light a candle, or send that bold email… this is it.
- Moon sextile Saturn and trine Pluto = Focus meets fierce. You’ve got the discipline to commit and the inner power to transform. Think: “I’m done playing small.”
- Venus sextile the Moon = Sweetness and ease in matters of the heart, beauty, and connection.
- Mars trine Venus = Hello, cosmic chemistry. This adds a little sizzle to your passion projects — or maybe even your DMs.
June – Cancer (4°) New Moon
It’s time to come home to yourself. This new moon brings nurturing energy that’s perfect for fresh starts in your living space, emotional well-being, or family dynamics. Want to move? Redecorate? Learn to cook something new? Set an intention to create safety and softness—especially in how you respond to life. If you’re holding onto outdated beliefs about money, love, or your own worth, now’s the time to gently rewrite the story.
July – Leo (2°) New Moon
Turn the lights up—center stage is yours. This is a powerful time to start something fun, uplifting, or romantic. Play is a form of healing now. Hobbies that light you up, time in the sun, or even new creative outlets can work wonders for your confidence. Just don’t confuse “rest” with “avoidance”—Leo wants you to sparkle, not snooze. Invest in joy, express yourself fully, and don’t be afraid to shine.
August – Virgo New Moon #1 (0°)
The first of two Virgo new moons this year—and it’s extra potent. Happening at 0 degrees, this lunation holds the raw, unfiltered energy of Virgo: organized, healing, humble, and detail-obsessed. Time to clean house—literally or figuratively. You may feel called to fix something, refine a skill, or begin a detox or cleanse. Serving others is a theme, but don’t forget to serve yourself, too. A square to Uranus adds surprise—expect the unexpected and stay flexible.
September – Virgo (29°) New Moon #2 (Eclipse)
Déjà vu? This second Virgo new moon is an eclipse, pushing forward what began in August. If you didn’t start a new routine then, the Universe might start one for you. Eclipses accelerate timelines. This is about work, health, rituals, and the little details that shape your big life. Don’t stress the imperfections—just start something. It’ll lead you where you’re meant to go.
October – Libra (28°) New Moon (Solar Eclipse)
After all that Virgo grind, Libra’s new moon brings the promise of peace and perspective. This solar eclipse highlights relationships—both with others and with yourself. It’s a great time to reset boundaries, recalibrate balance, and stop people-pleasing. The moon squares Jupiter in Cancer and ties into Pisces themes too, so emotions run high. You might feel torn between what feels good and what looks right. Choose what brings true harmony—not just surface calm.
November – Scorpio (28°) New Moon
Deep, raw, and transformational. The Scorpio new moon invites intimacy, emotional depth, and shadow work. Start something that helps you connect—whether with others or with your own inner truths. This can be a sexy, magnetic new beginning, or a time to heal the parts you hide. Scorpio asks for vulnerability, but also offers power. Initiate something sacred, soulful, or sensual. The right kind of closeness can transform everything.
December – Sagittarius (28°) New Moon
The final new moon of 2025 ends the year on a hopeful, horizon-expanding note. Sagittarius energy loves travel, learning, and spiritual growth—perfect for big-picture visioning. Conjunct Venus but square to Saturn, this moon asks: how can you make joy sustainable? Maybe it’s a new belief, a gratitude practice, or committing to a dream you’ve been putting off. Reflect on where you’ve grown this year—and what you’re ready to explore next.
